Newhouse students and student media win at New York State Associated Press Association awards

The New York State Associated Press Association announced the winners of its annual award contest at its banquet in Saratoga Springs, New York June 1, and Newhouse students and student media were recognized for their excellence in the College TV category with the following wins:

Best Regularly Scheduled Local News Program

First Place: "CitrusTV News Live at Six"

Second Place: "Morning on the Hill."

Best News Story

First Place: Michael Lehr, "Negev Bedouin Fight for Equality in Israel"

Second Place: Chris Venzon, "Jacsen Kutic."

In addition, Keith Kobland, adjunct faculty in broadcast and digital journalism and news media manager for Syracuse University News, won first place in the TV III: Documentary category for "The Miracle Microphone: The Impossible History and History Makers of WAER Radio," produced with Scott MacFarlane.
