Student Organizations

There are many communications-related student organizations on the Syracuse University campus. Here are just a few extracurricular options for Newhouse students.

CitrusTV is Syracuse University's entirely student-run TV studio. With more than 350 active student members, it is also one of the largest student organizations at Syracuse University. 

Founded in 1970, CitrusTV produces news, sports and entertainment programming from its HD studio in Watson Hall. It is a key programming partner for the Orange Television Network, the student television station on campus seen on channel 14.1 HD.

The Daily Orange

The Daily Orange, the independent campus newspaper of Syracuse University, publishes more than 115 issues each academic year. The DO has a circulation of 6,000 print copies with a readership of 30,000. The DO's website receives about 175,000 page views per month. The editorial content of the paper, which originated in 1903 and became independent in 1971, is entirely student-run.

Hill Communications is an award-winning, student-run public relations firm based in the Newhouse School. It has provided individualized communications services to clients for more than a decade.

The NewsHouse

The NewsHouse is an innovative, student-run digital outlet that covers, interacts with and engages the Syracuse University community. Managed by a team of lead producers, dozens of students from all majors regularly contribute reporting, photos, video, interactives and social media updates. More than 100,000 unique visitors view content annually.

The NewsHouse has earned numerous local, regional and national awards including the nation's best independent online website for large schools in the Society of Professional Journalists’ 2012 Mark of Excellence Awards.

Orange Television Network (OTN)

Orange Television Network (OTN) is the first college cable TV station in the U.S. to air programs in high-definition. You can watch OTN in all campus residence halls and buildings on Time Warner cable channel 2 and 2.1. You can also watch it live online.

OTN is student-produced TV and it is on the air 24/7 throughout the school year. Our shows include campus comedy, sports, dance and music performances.

TNH is Syracuse University's student-run advertising agency. Created at the Newhouse School in 2007, the agency includes student account managers, account planners and creatives serving real-world clients.
