Why Newhouse?

Newhouse students stand with the best communications students in the country, and go through a highly competitive admissions process to be here. Our graduates are industry leaders, and our faculty are continually breaking ground in today's rapidly changing media landscape.

The strength of the Newhouse School is firmly rooted in a quality curriculum; an extensive network of loyal, accomplished alumni; and larger university environment. You will learn how to manage and produce for mass media and other areas of public communications—while you also pursue studies in politics, languages, cultures, fine arts, science, psychology, economics and more.

Many Newhouse students also choose to enrich their academic experience with a semester in Los Angeles or New York City; by studying in other countries through SU Abroad; through prestigious local, national or international internships; or dual majors or minors.

It's this combination of academic excellence, hands-on professional training, experiential learning, flexible online learning opportunities and access to a variety of degree-enhancing options that ensures you'll graduate ready to make your mark on the world.

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is one of 100+ mass communications schools accredited through the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). Our voluntary participation in self-assessment and external review helps to ensure that Newhouse students consistently receive excellent preparation for their future careers in the communications industries. Our accreditation reflects our commitment to nine standards that translate into small class sizes, hands-on learning experiences, an introduction to communications law, comprehensive advising and career development, and a strong liberal arts foundation.
