Alumni FAQ

  • Can I still access the CDC's resources as an alumnus? opener
    • Yes! CDC services are lifelong. If you are near campus, you can stop into the office (313 Newhouse 3) at any time. If you would like to make an appointment to speak to someone while you are here, or if you would like to schedule a phone appointment if you cannot come into the office, give us a call at 315-443-3270.

  • Where is the CDC? opener
    • The CDC is located in 313 Newhouse 3. If you're entering from the Newhouse patio, turn left into Newhouse 3. Once inside, immediately turn left and make a u-turn. It's the first office on your left.

  • How do I make an appointment? opener
    • Call us at 315-443-3270. You are also welcome to stop by the office at 313 Newhouse 3 any time—you can use our databases, media guides and other resources while you're here.

  • I heard you have an alumni database. How do I use it? opener
    • Our alumni database, the Newhouse Network, includes Newhouse alumni who have agreed to provide mentoring and networking to students and fellow alumni.

      Before students can register for the Newhouse Network, they must first take the Job Hunt Marathon seminar—see the events page for more information.

  • Do you provide information about job opportunities? opener
  • How about internships? opener
    • Yes, we also include post-graduate internship information in our JobOps newsletter.

  • I need help finding a job/finding an internship/writing a cover letter/writing a résumé/practicing interviewing/with networking... what should I do? opener
    • If you have a quick question about a career topic, give us a call at 315-443-3270. If you would like to discuss your job search or other career matter in more detail, we recommend that you call and ask to set up a phone appointment to speak with one of our advisers.

  • Is the CDC open in the summer or during breaks? opener
    • The CDC is open all summer, usually with slightly shortened hours. The office is open for most of winter break, but usually closes for a few days between Christmas and New Year's. Your best bet during these times is to call ahead.
